A fishing experience for anglers and non-anglers
As many of you already know, Liptov offers a wealth of memorable experiences and opportunities, with creative people continually adding new ones. One such person is Peter Markuška, who lives in Liptovský Mikuláš and has found his passion in fishing. He has been fishing since the age of nine. He enjoys trying, experimenting and looking for effective ways to catch different species of fish. For him, fishing is above all a way to clear his head, relax his mind, recharge with positive energy and move beyond his comfort zone. Peter offers guided fishing experiences for anglers and non-anglers alike.
He specialises in catching carp, sturgeon and grass carp. Various other non-predatory fish are also caught unintentionally. Catches weighing between 2 and 18 kg are not unusual. You too can catch an impressive fish without extensive fishing knowledge. Sturgeon are remarkable fighters, and landing one is a real experience. Fishing takes place on catch-and-release ponds, so catches cannot be kept. Peter says he guarantees a catch.

Where does the fishing take place?
Fishing takes place at private ponds with healthy stocks of sturgeon, carp, grass carp and various other non-predatory fish; predatory fish are sometimes caught unintentionally as well. Since Liptovský Mikuláš itself has no ponds of this kind, we have selected three areas for clients to choose from:
- a private pond near Dolný Kubín – this offers the best chance of catching a fine sturgeon
- a private pond near Martin – a beautiful, well-kept and varied setting. The gazebos are equipped with electrical sockets and can also be used for overnight stays. The pond is very well stocked with carp of various sizes, including trophy specimens, as well as sturgeon. Grass carp can also be found here. Fishing at this pond is available only at weekends and must be booked in advance.
- ponds a short distance from Poprad, well stocked with carp and set in pleasant surroundings. The most adventurous can try the neighbouring catfish pond, where there is a chance to catch a truly impressive large catfish.
If you know of suitable fishing spots in the area, new locations can also be visited by mutual agreement. The experience is intended for anyone who wants to try fishing and tune in to a blend of relaxation and pure adrenaline from landing a substantial catch.
