Trip to St Anne’s Church and Čereňová Rock

A day trip from Vila Vista to Liptovská Anna and Čereňová Rock is another excellent option. The village lies around 30 km from Demänovská Valley, and the outing combines a short drive, a pleasant hike and views across Liptov. It is a good choice if you would like to discover a quieter part of the region away from its best-known attractions.

Liptovská Anna is a beautiful, picturesque village around 30 km from us and approximately a 25-minute drive away via the motorway.

    Hike to Čereňová Rock

The village also offers an easy hike up a hill known as Čereňová Rock. Čereňová is not a particularly prominent peak in the Choč Mountains. Nestled among more distinctive mountains such as Prosečné, Pravnáč and Choč, it does not look especially remarkable at first glance from the motorway, train or Tatralandia. What sets it apart from the strong competition among Liptov’s smaller hills, however, is the Čereňová Rock crag. Shaped rather like a rocky fist, the crag forms a flat-topped rock. This means that its summit has a distinctive plateau with a spectacular view.

How to reach Čereňová Rock and where to park

The village also has an easy-to-climb hill known as Čereňová Rock. Before setting off, you can park at the bottom by the entrance to the forest or right in the centre of the village. At first, the woodland path is pleasant and reminiscent of an ancient Celtic forest. The gradient then increases and the climb becomes fairly steep. Although the route is not technically difficult, it can still challenge an inexperienced walker. Children, on the other hand, usually have no trouble at all—their small, nimble feet make light work of the ascent. Good footwear is essential, and walking poles may also help. The higher you go, the steeper the terrain becomes; in dry weather, expect loose, slippery ground in places. On the way up, remember just one thing: every demanding path is worth the view at the top. The route is not officially waymarked, although you will occasionally see signs that lead upwards. The path is well trodden and frequently used by hikers, so you can simply follow those ahead of you. The ascent takes around 45 minutes in total.

Walks and hikes straight from Vila Vista

We are an excellent starting point for walks and hikes too. Our location offers more than easy access to ski resorts, a bus stop, restaurants, a shop and a children’s playground. You can also set out on foot from here for easy outings that are very popular in the area. Even the youngest visitors can manage these routes, making them ideal for an easy family day trip or walk.

Mount Demänovská – 1304 m above sea level

This is a lovely and relatively accessible peak. As the marked trail climbs through rocky scenery, lovers of beautiful vistas can enjoy views across the Liptov Basin, the Choč Mountains and the Western Tatras. From the mountain meadow at the top, you can admire Liptov’s carpet-like fields as well as striking panoramas of the Low Tatras, including Chopok and Ďumbier. Mount Demänovská can be reached, for example, by following the yellow trail from ATC Bystrina near Pavčina Lehota. Roughly halfway up this route, you will find a bench and table with an excellent view of Pavčina Lehota, Veľký Choč and the surrounding countryside. The path is steeper in places, but remains pleasant and undemanding. Alternatively, take the green trail and then the yellow trail from the Demänovská Cave of Liberty via Iľanovské Saddle—this route promises more adventure. It follows the stream bed itself, with rocks and cascades to negotiate and the stream to cross. Footbridges carry the path in some places, and you will occasionally encounter chains. Both routes end by a small wooden cross and summit logbook. Seasoned mountain walkers may see Mount Demänovská as only a tiny part of the Low Tatras, but it is certainly worth adding to your holiday itinerary.

    Observation tower – Pavčina Lehota

Looking straight across the crossroads from our apartment house, you will see the quiet and beautiful village of Pavčina Lehota, surrounded by meadows. It is a genuinely lovely, romantic village that you are sure to fall for, and only around a 15-minute walk from us. The observation tower stands above the village near the Žiarce ski lift and is reached directly along a field track from the village. It is 8 metres high. Beneath its roof are panoramic photographs with precise labels for the peaks and mountain ranges, helping you find your bearings. You will not regret the walk—the views across the village’s broad meadows are simply beautiful. A well-trodden path leads onto an educational trail that continues all the way to the neighbouring village of Lazisko. Along the way, you may see horses behind a fence and flocks of sheep and cattle grazing: a quintessential Liptov scene. Young adventurers will also be quick to spot the alpine coaster beside the ski lift, which operates at full capacity during the season. 🙂

Siná Peak – 1560 m above sea level

A challenge for the brave—or, more accurately, a route for experienced hikers. The ascent of Siná may appear straightforward, but the route is quite adventurous and covers approximately 8 km. The mountain is known for its sharp summit and magnificent views. From the Demänovská Dolina – Jaskyňa Slobody bus stop, follow the blue trail for a while until you reach the Repiská junction. This is where the real hike begins: take the yellow trail up to Sedlo Sinej. Expect steep climbs, narrow paths and switchbacks. Chains protect the route in several places near the summit. Our guests say that Siná is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Low Tatras, but we will leave the final verdict to you. Come and see for yourself.
